Tropical Depression Tendency is an adventure/RPG/survival game, a personal project I’m making on my own, set to release whenever I can finish it!!

You play as Faris Almasi, who finds themself trapped in the seemingly-flawless tropical paradise of the Abalorio Hotel. The only way in or out of the hotel is a door in the lobby that requires 5 keys. It’s up to you to guide Faris to the exit. You can find development updates on the game’s itch.io page.

FARIS ALMASI wakes up one day to find themself in a tropical resort, with no memory of how they got there; if they want to escape, it’ll be a tough road ahead. Faris’s energy is generally sleepy, and they tend to look like a cross between annoyed and depressed — but they’ve long since given up sharing what’s inside with anyone. They’re susceptible to spiraling states when certain triggers arise, and will have to fight with all they’ve got to overcome them and make their way to the exit.

SIN & SHAMASH are the two receptionists at the Abalorio Hotel, and the supposed gatekeepers of the hotel’s Door — the only way to enter or exit the premises. Though they wish that Faris would stay, the two guide Faris through a bizarre and often dangerous check-out process. They have a habit of appearing together at their own whims, and of echoing each other’s sentences. Sin is clothed in the colors of the moon and always speaks first, while Shamash is clothed in the colors of the sun and always follows Sin’s lead.

THE MATADOR is an imposing figure who, according to the receptionists, doesn’t belong in the resort. It seems to attack Faris at the most inopportune times, and the grating sounds of its motorcycle often sends Faris into a spiraling state. But there may be more to it than appears…

????, is the only way to describe this unknown force that appears around the resort, unbeknownst to anyone besides Faris. Under its blobby purple skin, it seems to bear an unfortunate resemblance to someone from Faris’s past.
